Lead Full Stack Engineer - Part-Time Work from Office: Nairobi Kenya Working hours: UK aligned Working Hours We are looking for a Lead Full Stack Engineer to take ownership of a product journey from late stage development to launch, scale, and continuous improvement. You will work directly with the founder and product leadership team to complete the MVP, define the technical roadmap, and build the technology foundation behind a platform solving real financial challenges for underserved communities. What You’ll Do • Own the technical vision and roadmap for the platform • Lead full-stack product engineering from MVP to scale • Review, improve, and take ownership of the existing codebase • Build scalable features, infrastructure, and data architecture • Maintain and improve Open Banking integrations and financial data APIs • Translate product and compliance requirements into scalable technical solutions • Establish engineering processes, standards, and best practices • Build and mentor an engineering team as the company grows • Partner with the founder on product strategy, technical decisions, and growth initiatives Requirements We are looking for someone with: • 7+ years of professional software engineering experience • Strong experience building and scaling production-grade applications • Advanced knowledge of TypeScript • Strong expertise in React • Strong backend development experience with Node.js and Express • Strong database experience with PostgreSQL • Excellent understanding of software architecture and system design • Experience taking products from development stages through successful production launch • Experience building and maintaining APIs and integrations • Strong understanding of Git-based development workflows • Experience working in fast-paced startup or product environments • Ability to make technical decisions independently and take ownership of outcomes Standout Experience • Fintech, Open Banking, or regulated technology environments • Experience working with financial data APIs or credit-related systems • Experience building products for underserved or emerging markets • Experience leading technical teams or mentoring engineers • Strong understanding of security, scalability, and data privacy considerations This is an opportunity for someone who wants a chance to build, influence, and potentially become a long-term technical partner in the journey.
