Overview
Job Purpose The position provides finance, budgeting, and administrative support to help ensure that financial resources are managed efficiently, accurately, and transparently. Key Responsibilities Assist colleagues with finance and budget-related procedures, providing technical support and helping ensure that WFP financial rules and policies are followed. Review monthly spending projections and prepare expenditure updates to support sound financial planning and decision-making. Regularly check the sub-imprest bank and petty cash accounts to confirm that sufficient funds are available and are being used appropriately. Review supplier claims, staff advances, and other outstanding receivables while ensuring that required procurement procedures have been followed before payments are made. Help gather financial information from different sources and use it to prepare reports covering budgets, accounting, finance, and statistical data. Extract financial information from relevant systems, organize and verify the data, and report any errors or inconsistencies to the supervisor for correction. Keep track of account balances and process financial transactions promptly and accurately to prevent overdrafts and other account issues. Maintain the online register for invoices and payment transfers and ensure supporting documentation is properly recorded, organized, and filed according to WFP requirements. Track expenditure against approved budgets and confirm that costs are allocated correctly. Process payments to suppliers, cash grants, and other external parties within the required timelines. Support other administrative staff through guidance and practical, on-the-job training to promote consistent and quality service delivery. Relevant Experience Experience gathering, reviewing, and analyzing financial information and preparing reports for senior-level management. Qualifications and Experience Education Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, or a closely related discipline. Membership in a recognized professional accountancy organization will be an added advantage. Professional Experience At least five years of relevant experience in finance and accounting. Previous experience in public accounting will be an added advantage. Language Fluency in spoken and written English is required.
